Power, Money, Vintage Los Angeles, and Whodunit!

Updated: May 26, 2020

You’re not listening to The Angle of Vine podcast….Why?!

The Angel of Vine combines classic old Hollywood with true crime podcasting to tell the fictional story of a contemporary journalist who uncovers the secret audio tapes of a 1950s private eye that cracked the most significant unsolved murder mystery Hollywood has ever known… and didn’t tell a soul.

Their premise of a fictional true crime podcast has the feel of film noir mixed with the old radio plays. It is impressive storytelling from the first click of the tape recorder to the end scene outro music. Their ‘found footage’ style blended credibly throughout the story.  The post audio production of aging the sound and the Foley effects formed a full theater of the mind. The professional production was recorded with the actors sitting together having the conversation, as opposed to recording their lines alone in a booth, gave it authenticity.

I would look forward each week, when I was a kid, tuning my radio old school radio plays to catch the intriguing and involved stories. It’s extraordinary to hear something old school on a modern platform, and I think the whole cast and crew did an incredible job.

I can confirm it is bingeable. I can’t wait for the next season!
